[00:14] Thermocouple and RTD sensors are the industry standards for measuring the temperature of processed media. However, in challenging environments—characterized by high temperatures, electromagnetic interference (EMI), or long cable runs—the raw signals from these sensors can degrade.
[00:33] This signal degradation, often caused by wire resistance and electrical noise, can lead to inaccurate readings. To mitigate these issues, temperature transmitters are used to amplify, condition, and convert sensor data into a standardized 4-20mA output, ensuring high-integrity data across the plant.

4 to 20 mA Analog Signal: The most common standard, highly resistant to noise and ideal for long distances.
0 to 10V: A common analog option, though more susceptible to signal loss over length.
Digital Signals (HART & Modbus): Used for advanced remote communication and diagnostics.
RS485/RS232: Essential for integrating transmitters with PLCs and SCADA systems.

The TC41 Adjustable Bayonet Thermocouple can be configured for a wide range of industrial temperature measurement applications using Type J, K, or T thermocouples. The maximum operating temperature depends on the selected thermocouple type, sheath material, lead wire insulation, connector, and process conditions. Selecting the proper configuration provides reliable performance, long service life, and measurement reliability for your specific application. The TC41 is available in Type J, K, and T thermocouple calibrations with grounded or ungrounded junctions. Grounded junctions typically provide faster thermal response, while ungrounded junctions offer electrical isolation for applications where electrical noise or interference may be present.
The TC41 Adjustable Bayonet Thermocouple is installed using a compatible bayonet adapter. The standard adapter is supplied with a 1/8" NPT thread, while BSP and other thread sizes are available upon request. After installation, adjust the immersion depth and lock the spring-loaded bayonet onto the adapter. Tempotech Controls also offers compatible bayonet adapters, replacement bayonet caps, connectors, extension wire, wire clamps, and strain relief accessories for installation and maintenance.
The adjustable bayonet fitting allows the sensing tip to be positioned at the required immersion depth during installation. Once locked into the mating bayonet adapter, the spring-loaded assembly maintains constant pressure against the measurement surface, helping reduce air gaps and improve measurement stability in applications exposed to vibration or thermal expansion
The TC41 is available with straight, 45°, and 90° probe configurations to suit different installation requirements. Straight probes are ideal for direct access, while angled probes simplify installation where space is limited or cable routing requires a different orientation. Selecting the correct probe angle helps improve installation, cable protection, and sensor positioning.
