Application Note
In aluminum processing applications—including casting, refining, alloying, and holding furnace operations—the TC300 Angled Thermocouple provides precise, real-time molten metal temperature measurement to ensure process stability and product quality. Its angled design allows insertion into holding furnaces, crucibles, and ladles at an optimal orientation, positioning the sensing tip below the bath surface and away from dross layers or refractory walls, which improves measurement accuracy and extends sensor life. By delivering reliable thermal data during casting, the TC300 helps prevent defects such as porosity, cold shuts, and shrinkage while maintaining consistent alloy formation during alloying and refining steps. In holding furnaces, the thermocouple enables tight temperature control, supporting uniform melting and reducing energy consumption. When used in ladles and transfer troughs, the angled configuration protects the sensor from mechanical damage during filling and pouring. Ultimately, the TC300 enhances operational efficiency, minimizes costly process errors like re-melts and scrap, and ensures stable thermal
